How did I get started?
I taught myself HTML and CSS back in 1998. I was in high school. My first project was for the Chinese Language class at the Springfield High School of Science & Technology (Springfield, Massachusetts). I've designed my own blog by hand before I was introduced to such things as Blogger and Wordpress.
Since then, I went off to college and pursued a BA in Political Science and minored in Geography. However, my destiny with user experience never ceased. I was designing and developing websites by hand for the Writing Center at East Los Angeles College, the Strategic Research Institute for the North Campus at UCLA.
Starting in 2005, I started my adventure into designing and developing sites using content management systems. I met Drupal for the first time in 2005; it was Drupal 4.7. For the Institute for Social Science Research at UCLA, I used Plone, as it was the supported CMS on campus. While I was studying for my Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) at UCLA from 2005-2007, I continued hand-coding and maintaining the UCLA student chapter websites of ASIST, Student Governing Board, YALSA, ARTiFACTS, and SLA.
Meanwhile, in 2006, I revisited Drupal again and my portfolio with Drupal began.
Currently, I'm an Information Architect at Disney. I've worked on multi-million projects on Disney World, Disney Land, Disney Cruise Line, Hong Kong Disneyland, helping Guests by designing open, accessible site experiences.
